The Heat Is On

As I recover from Breast Cancer surgery this week, I am trying to stay cool as we in the high desert face over 100 degree heat, as usual for this time of year. All I can say is thank the Lord it only comes 1-2 months out of the year! I'm trying to keep my attention on other things such as getting ready for the new school year, my writing, reading, and listening/learning the great and truthful information found on the Fox News station featuring Hannity, The Ingraham Angle, Tucker Carlson and others. Hopefully there is cooler weather coming soon in September! Quote of the day: "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you planted." Unknown

Survive and then thrive

Summer school is almost over and then the staff and I will be going to our old, temporary site to pack up and then move to the new permanent site (which the other teachers and I have only seen from the outside!) and start getting ready for the new school year to begin! I have been going back and forth with the idea of moving closer to work and into a better neighborhood while I await a future job transfer sometime this coming year, but all I've been going through this past year with my body (a mild stroke, brain surgery, critical car accident and a mild heart attack-now breast cancer), has given me thought to why should I deal with all that stress? I am just going to stay put. The neighborhood isn't that bad, the house I'm renting isn't the best but I can work with it, I think I'll just stay here, fix up what I can on the inside and in the backyard, and save my money for when I move, hopefully next summer. It will be a couple of hours away and closer to my daughter, her family, and my mom. It will be a better move and I'll be in better shape. For now, I'll try to take it easy and try to stress less. In a few months, I turn 60 and I want to live another 40 years or so, God willing. Until then, my quote: "Remember when pies were set out on the windowsill to cool, not to thaw?" Unknown

Busy Lives

It has just been so busy with getting ready and starting summer school, meeting and setting up my surgery schedule for the cancer tumor, and looking for a new home. I've been seeing some really nice places so hopefully I will be able to choose one, get approved, and start making final plans for a move-in date next month. I'm trying to pack up the house now before the end of the month when I have my surgery. I'm excited and looking forward to a new place in a better area. It will be closer to work so that's always nice. Wow, what a crazy 4th of July holiday! We had the earthquake on the 4th and then a bigger one the next day! This was the first in about 10 years though so that's not bad. Only the city where the epicenter was suffered some damage with the 2nd quake. A lot of people think that we have these big quakes all the time but we don't; this was the first in 10 years that we felt and the 2nd since the mid-90's. I can live with that. I don't understand the people that live in the tornado zones where they go through these disasters multiple times every year! Oh well, to each his own. Every state has it's own bad weather or negative circumstances they go through, whether it's hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, high humidity, etc. We learn to live with them. God bless us all and protect us.
